about
I wrote this song for a dear friend of mine named Charlie Ternan who tragically passed away this past May. He meant a lot to me and provided me with endless support and inspiration, and I'll celebrate him every way I can going forward.
This song was written the day after he passed away and recorded the following day with a handy recorder and lots of tears. This song is for anyone who knew Charlie as well as those who have lost a loved one and know the maelstrom of emotions that follow.
We love you Chuck!
lyrics
Thick skin, chubby cheeks,
A steam train on the driveway court.
Forever, little brother to me.
What I'd do to have your heart,
You saw yourself in everyone.
Forever, hear your holler in the breeze.
Forever, little brother to me.
So be proud, sweet Charlie,
Of the world that you made.
Be proud, sweet Charlie,
Of the wins and the mistakes.
The whole world is crying
On a day that just can't be.
Be proud, sweet Charlie,
And save a drink up there for me.
I still hear your voice,
Cause every shows a sing-a-long.
Forever, hear you screaming out of key.
How's it look from up above?
Did you know you had this kind of love?
Forever, angel to me.
Forever, little brother to me.
So be proud, sweet Charlie,
Of the world that you made.
Be proud, sweet Charlie,
Of the wins and the mistakes.
The whole world is crying
On a day that just can't be.
Be proud, sweet Charlie,
Be good, sweet Charlie,
Rest now, sweet Charlie,
And save a drink up there for me.
